Effect of intermittent high intensity exercise on counter-regulatory hormones in type 1 diabetes glargine/glulisine users

چکیده
Background: Brief intense sprint intervals during moderate intensity exercise prevent hypoglycemia in type 1 diabetic participants. We tested the hypothesis that this exercise modality would increase counter-regulatory hormones and limit BG decrease in glargine/glulisine insulin analogs users. Findings: Participants performed, in a repeated measures, random-ordered design, 60 minutes of moderate intensity exercise at 50% VO2peak in the following conditions: ingestion of 0 g of glucose pre-exercise, 30 g of glucose pre-exercise, or 0 g of glucose preexercise, but interspersed with brief high intensity intervals every 2 minutes. Intermittent brief high intensity exercise significantly increased levels of norepinephrine at mid-exercise (from 3.2±1.0 to 7.8±3.2 nmol/l) and cortisol from mid-exercise (from 330±159 to 606±285 nmol/l) to even after exercise (692±334 nmol/l) compared to other conditions. Conclusions: Our results suggest that an intermittent high intensity exercise raised counter-regulatory hormones which may contribute to the prevention of exercise-induced hypoglycaemia in participants with type 1 diabetes using glargine/glulisine. Such exercise regimen can be an alternative to prevent exercise-induced hypoglycemia in glargine/glulisine users as seen in other insulin combinations.

The Effect of High Intensity Intermittent Training (HIIT) on GLP-1R Expression in Pancreas Tissue and Serum Insulin of Male Wistar Rats with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Objective: Insulin secretion and insulin resistance are associated with incidence and severity of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to assess the effect of high intensity intermittent training (HIIT) on GLP-1R expression in pancreas tissue and serum insulin of T2DM rats. Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, T2DM induced by intraperitoneal injection of strept...

We compared changes in blood glucose (BG) and risk of hypoglycaemia during and after exercise in 40 patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) treated with insulin degludec (IDeg) or insulin glargine (IGlar) in a randomized, open-label, two-period, crossover trial. After individual titration and a steady-state period, patients performed 30 min of moderate-intensity cycle ergometer exercise (65% peak r...

متن کاملEffects of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) On CTRP1 and CTRP3 in Women with Type 2 Diabetes
Background: Family members of C1q/tumor necrosis factor (TNF) related proteins (CTRPs) have been shown to play an important role in metabolism and inflammation. However, there is limited information on the association of high-intensity intermittent exercise (HIIT) with CTRP1 and CTRP3 protein levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effects of 12 weeks...

Background: Physical activity plays a major role in the prevention of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, but the effect of intense activity on endoplasmic reticulum proteins and apoptosis and necroptosis in diabetic conditions is unclear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the changes of PERK and CHOP proteins in endoplasmic reticulum of cardiac myocytes of diabetic Wistar rats f...
